Michael Zaporzan is the founder and President of JETZ Aviation, based out of Winnipeg, Canada. Michael has over 3 decades of experience within the aviation industry where he has worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and has piloted several different aircrafts for the Manitoba Government Air Service and business aviation sectors. Michael pursued his passion for aviation when he was 16 years old and acquired a Private Pilot’s license, the second in his family to do so, and went on to study aviation in college. Beginning as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Michael continued to expand his knowledge of aircrafts and eventually got an Airline Transport Pilot license. He has served as the training pilot and has several years of experience on different aircrafts, including many years as a Captain.
Although aviation has been a passion that Michael has pursued since he was a teenager, his other passion involves health and fitness. Personally, Michael likes being healthy, eating well, and staying active. On the professional side, Michael believes that aviation and fitness are well connected. Working within the industry involves long travel, so it is great to stay healthy and in good shape which is something he likes to encourage colleagues to do as well. It forms part of one of the many ways that Michael ensures that he performs to the best of his ability for his clients at JETZ Aviation.
Michael stays in shape through CrossFit training, which consists of a mix of calisthenics, Olympic weightlifting, and aerobic exercises. Michael enjoys how the daily workouts for CrossFit are varied, and he also likes the challenge that it presents. When working out, it is a big satisfaction for Michael to finally achieve a certain goal, like getting a personal record for a workout. Eating healthy is also something Michael remains conscious about. He loves healthy food, and enjoys cooking as well, but he always tries to stay away from enriched flour and sugar.
Growing up, Michael played many sports including hockey and football. Although his siblings were not into sports, Michael was the very opposite and enjoyed playing competitive sports. When he was younger, Michael was a fan of the New York Islanders and when the Winnipeg Jets finally returned to Manitoba in 2011, Michael is proud to be their fan as well and has season tickets.
